Theresa June Murphy
85, of Girard, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 12, 2015 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Theresa was born on June 2, 1929 to Homer and Pauline (Pass) Stephenson in Litchfield, IL. She was a 1947 graduate of Litchfield High School. Theresa worked as a retail clerk for Merle Norman Cosmetics and Virden Department Store, retiring in 2000. On October 31, 1953 she married Roy T. Murphy in Litchfield, IL. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1985.
Theresa enjoyed sewing, reading, and her grandchildren. She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Murphysboro basketball fan.
Theresa is survived by her five sons, Mark (Sandy) Murphy of Girard, IL, Greg (Shawn) Murphy of Girard, IL, Gary (Candy) Murphy of Girard, IL, Brad (Shannon) Murphy of Carlinville, IL, Daryl (Diana) Murphy of Murphysboro, IL; three daughters, Michelle Smith of Girard, IL, Camille (Brian) Johnson of Winterville, NC, Janelle Murphy of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Morgan, Luke & Matt Murphy, Brynne Scott, Taylor Murphy, Wes & Wade Smith, Devon & Kelsey Murphy, Brice & Dylan Johnson, Melanie & Madeline Murphy, and Daryl Murphy ll; four brothers, Charles "Bub" Stephenson of Princeville, IL, Paul (Eva) Stephenson of Hoyleton, IL, Bill (Sharon) Stephenson of Clinton, IL, Mike Stephenson of Litchfield, IL; sister, Helen Schuetze of Carlinville, IL; several nieces and nephews.
Theresa was preceded in death by parents, husband, and two brothers, Larry and John Stephenson. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church,745 West Center, Girard, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015, 7:00 pm at the church, with Rev. Angel Sierra, officiating, with a meal to follow at St. Patrick's hall.
Private burial will take place in the St. Raymond Cemetery, Raymond IL. Donations Information
