Obituary of Elizabeth Long

Elizabeth A. "Betty" Long 78 of Girard, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2015 at her residence in Girard, IL. Betty was born on July 15, 1936 to William and Elizabeth (Koester) Ridder in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood, IL. Betty married Robert W. "Bob" Long on June 25, 1955 in Broadview, IL and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1998. Betty was a crop insurance adjuster for over 25 years. She last worked for Rain and Hail Insurance Company. Betty enjoyed gambling, Bunco, Bingo, NASCAR and loved to attend her grandchildren's sporting events. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Virden. Betty is survived by two sons, Donald (Maria) Long of Mundelein, IL and Pat (Rhonda) Long of Tamarac, FL; three daughters, Dawn (Chris) Tate of Plainview, IL, Kris (Scott) Trojcak of Girard, IL and Monica (Tim) Hasara of Carlinville, IL; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a sister, Carole Ridder of Frankfort, IL. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am at the funeral home in Girard with Rev. Shawn Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery.
