Charles H. "Charlie" Johnson 92 of Carlinville, passed away Monday morning, May 11, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Charlie was born on April 16, 1923 to Wiley and Stella (Frost) Johnson in Jerseyville, IL. He graduated from Medora High School with the class of 1941 and then married Lorena Wagner on June 14, 1942 in Medora. Lorena preceded Charlie in death on July 1, 2014. After he and Lorena were married, he served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, during WWII. Charlie farmed in the Nilwood and Greenfield area and later worked as a crop insurance adjuster after retiring from farming. He was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church and enjoyed playing cards in his free time. Charlie is survived by his granddaughter, Tresa Edwards of Girard; two grandsons, Scot (Michelle) Lehmann of Peoria, IL and Jeff (Janet) Johnson of Greenfield, IL; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister, Myrt (Alan) Fricker of Medora and a brother, Wiley "Buck" (Betty) Johnson of Medora. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena F. Johnson; parents; son, Charles "Larry" Johnson; daughter, Merideth "Sue" Lehmann; granddaughter, Lori Pembrook, as well as 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the Carlinville United Methodist Church in Carlinville with a memorial service conducted at 2:00 pm at the church with Rev. Bob Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Medora Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Carlinville United Methodist Church.
