Helen M. Gardner
83 of Springfield, IL formerly of Girard, passed away Sunday morning, January 25, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Helen was born on April 6, 1931, in Cisne, IL, a daughter of Carl A. and Mildred (Miner) Fitzgerald. She married Francis "Speck" Gardner on December 6, 1946 in Virden, IL and he preceded her in death on August 15, 2013.
Helen was a homemaker and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and loved watching the Illini basketball games and rooting on her St. Louis Cardinals.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Darrell Gardner and 5 brothers & sisters.
Helen is survived by her son, Carl (Ginger) Gardner of Pelion, S.C.; daughter, Alice M. (Lee) Garrison of Springfield, IL; 5 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren & 7 step great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Gravelle of Girard and several nieces & nephews. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the funeral home with Rev. Marty Nagel officiating.
Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery. Donations Information
May be made to the Girard Fire & Rescue Squad. Directions
