Obituary of Betty J. Adams

Betty J. Adams, 86, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, at her home in Carlinville, IL, surrounded by her family. Betty was born January 31, 1940, in Atwater, IL, a daughter of Rolly Giberson and Cora (Goodwin) Giberson. She attended Carlinville Schools. She married Michael Lynn Whitworth in 1959 they were later divorced. She then married Jerry L. Adams who proceeds her in death. Betty had a passion for care taking and loved to help others which led her to work at several nursing homes. She helped many in the Carlinville area offering home health care. Retiring in 2004 let her have more time to spend and care for her family and grandkids. Betty did more than support and care for others she enjoyed spending her free time going dancing and listening to country music. You could also find her roller skating and tending to her rose garden. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Michael L. Whitworth, Jr., brother, Frank Giberson, sister, Carolyn Williamson, and brother, Jerry Giberson. Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Monday, June 29, 2026, at Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Carlinville, IL. Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Carlinville. Betty is survived by her daughter, Margaret Whitworth of St. Cloud, FL, daughter, Mildred Maxine Wills of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Cathy Witt of Carlinville, IL, son, Terry Whitworth of Carlinville, IL, eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, twin sister, Beulah (Bob) Gansz of Carlinville, IL, brother, Pete (Alice) Giberson, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Taco. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
