Obituary of Wilma Corinne Adcock

Wilma Corinne Adcock, 95, of Girard, IL passed away on Thursday morning, May 14, 2026, at her home in Girard, IL. Wilma was born May 10, 1931, in Findlay, IL, a daughter of Erwin Landgrebe and Cuba (Stevens) Landgrebe. She graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1949. She married Cecil E. Adcock on December 27, 1948, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Wilma attended cosmetology school in the early 1960s and received her cosmetology license. Soon after she opened Wilma's Beauty Shop in Nilwood, IL, where she was the owner for over 30 years. She retired after many years of her hard work of making the citizens of Nilwood and surrounding areas look their best. Some of Wilma's favorite hobbies included quilting, gardening, and baking. Wilma's faith was very strong which led her to being a part of various mission trips with Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was also an avid member of the church's quilting group. Wilma loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Nelda Cooper, and brother, Bill Landgrebe. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carlinville. IL. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Becky (Robert) Layton of Springfield, IL, daughter, Debbie (Jim) Proctor of Shipman, IL, son, Tom (Terri) Adcock of Jerseyville, IL, and Dixie Sloman - who was like a daughter, eight grandchildren, Steve, Ryan, Courtney, Adam, Clay, Betsy, Tyler, and Emily, 15 great grandchildren, brother, Robert Landgrebe of Punta Gorda, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church - Quilt Group. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard is in charge of arrangements.
