Obituary of Stephen J. Hunt

Stephen J. "Huntly" Hunt, 69 of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025, at his home in Carlinville, IL. Stephen was born April 27, 1956, in Carlinville, IL, a son of John Barry Hunt and Mary Jean (Wheeler) Hunt Rumble. Stephen attended Chesterfield and Carlinville schools. He married Julie Boente, on June 9, 1989 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL. Stephen was a hard worker and known as a great finish carpenter. Much of his work can be seen around the Carlinville area. He loved motorcycles and was a member of A.B.A.T.E - Black Diamond Chapter in Carlinville, Illinois. He enjoyed playing pool and was a member of the pool league for many years. Stephen loved to socialize and was often found making new friends where ever life took him. Family was the most important thing to him. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Huntly's final ride will begin at 12pm on Saturday, July 19, from the St. George Room to Iron Sleds M.C. in Nilwood, then to the Sportsman Inn in Chesterfield, and finally to Loomis Cemetery on Macoupin Station Road, and finally to Loomis Cemetery where a brief graveside service will be held. All vehicles are welcome to join. Following the ride a gathering for dinner will be held at 4 pm at the Carlinville Moose Club. Whether you join us for the full day or part of it, we hope you will come to share memories, tell stories, and help us celebrate Huntly's life. Stephen is survived by Julie Boente of Carlinville, IL, and two sisters, Katherine (David) Sands of Carmi, IL, and Michelle Renee (Greg) Wagner of Toone, TN, an uncle and aunt, James (Jody) Wheeler, and two cousins from Carlinville.
