Obituary of Rick L. Stewart

Rick L. Stewart, 69 of Waggoner, IL, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Springfield, IL. Rick was born January 1, 1956, in Litchfield, IL, a son of Henry and Ruth (Bethard) Stewart. Rick graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1974. Upon his high school graduation, Rick held many different occupations, his main job being an equipment salesman for Konneker Brown/Sievers for more than 30 years before his retirement in December 2023. He worked in the construction industry for Koster’s as well. Rick was also an auctioneer and enjoyed it immensely. He would often volunteer his time to help auctioneer at the Junior Livestock Auction and Cake and Pie Auction at the Macoupin County Fair, the Carlinville FFA Alumni Dinner, and many other events. Rick loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. They were his pride and joy. He enjoyed collecting his eggs from his chickens, golf cart rides with his grandkids, and playing card games. His true love was working the family farm when the weather was sweltering during his favorite season…hay season. The hotter the better for Rick! Rick was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Stewart, sisters, Judy Lee and Jean Smith. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL. The family will have private graveside services at a later date. Rick is survived by his loving partner and fiancée of 22 years, Ericka Thompson, of Waggoner, IL, daughter, Tammy Hermes, daughter, Becky (Casey) Grossner, son, Cody (Kelli) Stewart, daughter, Sheena (Mike) Brooks, son, Derek (Mary) Brooks, son, Hayden Thompson, 13 grandchildren, sister, Mary Hasler, sister, Betty Stewart, and brother, Dennis (Sandy) Stewart. Memorials may be made to the Macoupin County Fair Junior Livestock Auction or the Carlinville FFA Alumni.
