Delbert A. Denby, 83, of Girard, formerly of Buffalo, NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
Delbert was born on April 7, 1937 to Arthur and Verna (Alford) Denby in Girard, IL. He graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1955, attended and graduated from the University of Illinois, and served in the United States Air Force.
Delbert was the owner/operator of Del Denby's Tavern in Buffalo, NY for over 40 years. He moved back to Girard in 2019. Delbert was a Buffalo Bills fan and a member of Girard United Methodist Church. After he retired, Delbert enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.
Delbert is survived by his brother, Donald (Pamela) Denby of Springfield, IL; 4 nephews, David, Bruce, Dean and Craig Denby; 2 nieces, Linda Bowen and Diane Rodgers, and several great nieces and nephews.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, Earl and Lynn Denby.
A private graveside service will be held in Girard Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Girard United Methodist Church.
