Obituary of Mary B. Bowers

Mary B. Bowers, 74, of Girard, formerly of Nilwood, passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Mary was born on September 20, 1945 to Glen and Dorothy (Smith) Talbert in Carlinville, IL. She married Orville Bowers on September 28, 1963 at the Clifford Hays residence. Mary worked as a bartender at Rocki's Bar in Auburn for 13 years, retiring in 2005. She was well known for her love of singing. Mary is survived by her husband of nearly 57 years, Orville Bowers of Girard, IL; daughter, Kimberly Bowers-Armstrong of Taylorville, IL, and a son, Michael Bowers of Girard, IL. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 siblings, Loretta Miller, Jim Talbert, Glenn Talbert Jr., and Ronnie Talbert. A drive by visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Please enter parking lot off of Route 4 and precede to the back of the funeral home. Family will be seated outside, on the patio. Please do not exit your car. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at 10:00 am in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Girard, with Rev. James McGee officiating.
