June (Graham) Leefers, 94, of Carlinville, passed away Monday morning, May 18, 2020 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
June was born on April 11, 1926 to John and Zella (Wilson) Graham in Carlinville, IL. She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1944. On June 20, 1948 she married Edwin Erlloyd Leefers, and they later divorced.
June started her career working at the law offices of Rinaker, Smith and Hebron in Carlinville. She then worked along side her husband as owner/operator of Leefers Hardware, located on the North-West corner of the square in Carlinville. After she and Erlloyd divorced, she went to work in Springfield for the Secretary of State's office from which she retired after 23 years of service. June was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville. She enjoyed her Canasta Card Club which she was a member for over 60 years and loved rooting for her St. Louis Cardinals.
June is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Bob) Boente of Carlinville, IL; son, Ed Jr. (Linda) Leefers of Carlinville, IL; five grandsons, Jason (Sarah) Boente of Carlinville, IL, Joshua (Meghan) Boente of Carlinville, IL, Justin (Nicky) Boente of Carlinville, IL, Jonathan (Amie) Boente of Swansee, IL, and Shaun Miller of CO; one granddaughter, Dina Lee of CA; 14 great grandchildren, Madison and Tyler Boente, Stone and Bo Boente, Kaiah Walstatter, Cooper Boente, Kayla, Eryn and Bobby Seal, Haley Summers, Sophia and Chase Boente, Jenna and Carson Lee; 2 sisters, Annette Willis of Gillespie, IL and Pat (Jerry) Barton of Edwardsville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harry Hurst and John Graham, and two sisters, Violet Turner and Mildred Powell.
Private family services will be conducted on Friday, May 29, 2020 with burial in Moore Cemetery, rural Carlinville.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Carlinville.
