Obituary of Patrick Shirey

Patrick W. "Pat" Shirey, 48, of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, April 17, 2020 at his residence in Carlinville, IL. Patrick was born on June 25, 1971 to Daniel and Priscilla (Shawver) Shirey in Charleston, WV. Pat was a laborer and had worked construction and as a cook in the restaurant industry. He loved to fish, hunt and explore nature. Pat enjoyed being outdoors as much as he could. He enjoyed woodworking and was known for the fine craftsmanship that he put into his walking sticks. Most of all, he loved being with his children and family. Patrick is survived by his longtime companion, Julie Link of Carlinville, IL; three sons, Jeremy Shirey of Louisville, KY, Cullen Shirey of Elkview, WV, and Dabnus Shirey of Elkview, WV; two daughters, Jordan (fiancee, Twain) Shirey of Louisville, KY, and Addison Shirey of Carlinville, IL; his grandson, Nasir; brother, Richard (Carla) Shirey of Walton, WV; sister, Michelle (James) Carter of Charleston, WV; several nieces and nephews. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family.
