Velma Irene Fones, 99, of Saint Petersburg, FL, formerly of Carlinville, IL, passed away on March 17, 2020.
Velma was born on October 12, 1920 to John and Dessie Mae (Richie) Crays in Carlinville, IL.
Velma worked as a general tester in the quality control lab for Owens Illinois Glass 29 years.
Velma is survived by two daughters, Joyce (James) Spann of Hartford, IL, and Elaine Brockmeier of Carlinville, IL; son, Jerry "Butch" (Marsha) Fones of Mt. Olive, IL; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters, as well as 1 great-great grandson.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Edna Jamieson, Iola Dunn, Alice Rhodes, and Dorothy Henson, as well as 4 brothers, Harold, Jerry, Rusty and Chuck Crays.
Private family graveside services were held on Friday, March 20, 2020 in Shipman Cemetery, Shipman, IL.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
