Obituary of Willie Hudgins

William E. "Willie" Hudgins, 77, of Carlinville, passed away Monday afternoon, February 24, 2020 at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, IL. Willie was born on June 15, 1942 to James and Mabel (Beard) Hudgins in Albertville, AL. He married Frances Chance on June 7, 1962 in Mobile, AL. Willie worked for Valley Steel, Starr Motors, Dick Shirley Chevrolet, and North End Garage in Carlinville. He also worked for Gwillim Trucking, Hays Trucking, and Aladdin Steel, as well as serving as a bus driver for Carlinville School District. Willie was a member of New Beginnings Southern Baptist Church in Girard and enjoyed fishing, gardening and had an amazing "gift of gab". Willie is survived by his wife, Frances Hudgins of Carlinville, IL; son, Ronnie William (Joyce) Hudgins of Chesterfield, IL; daughter, Tammie Renay (Dave) Hauter of Carlinville, IL; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four sisters, Jan Jarmon of Albertville, AL, Patricia Lively of Lauderdale, MS, Gail Breland of Sumrall, MS, and Joyce Ridgeway of Albertville, AL; two brothers, David Hudgins of Jasper, GA, and Lavon Hudgins of Albertville, AL. Willie is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Lovely officiating. Burial will be held in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, South of Carlinville.
