Obituary of Virginia Louise Whitby

Virginia L. Whitby 89, of Carlinville, passed away Monday evening April 2, 2012 at the Friendship Home in Carlinville. She was born on November 29, 1922 to Louis and Elsah Anna Paulina (Heidorn) Koenig in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from Edwardsville High School, class of 1940 and St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1945. Virginia had worked as a Registered Nurse for St. Josephs Hospital in Alton, IL. Virginia married Robert W. Whitby, May 1946 in Edwardsville and he passed away June 13, 1987. Virginia was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville and was a faithful member of the choir for 50 years. She had worked at the Carlinville Area Hospital and also did private duty nursing and other duties as a nurse. She had been active in the Hospital Aux, American Legion Aux and helped with her childrens' Boy and Girl Scout Clubs. Virginia was very active with her husband in the Carlinville Lions Club and the State Lions Association. Virginia loved music and singing. Virginia is survived by her, 3 daughters - Judy Rathgeber, husband Terry of Champaign, IL, Janet Feldman, husband Tom of Scottsdale, AZ and Julie Whitby Koller, husband Orion of Belleville, IL, grandson, Jason Feldman, brother Eugene Koenig, wife Betty of Glen Carbon, IL, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen, husband, son John R.Whitby. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Friday, April 06, 2012 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012, 10:00 AM at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Peter Kirby officiating. Burial will take place in the Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church, Diabetes Association, or American Legion Aux.
