Obituary of Oren Truman Pierson

Oren Truman Pierson 99 years, 10 months, 12 days of Girard, passed away Sunday morning, April 1, 2012 at his home at Otter Lake. He was born on May 20, 1912 in Palmyra, the son of Ora (Bettis) and Truman Pierson. On November 5, 1932 he married Hazel Bristrow in Carlinville. She preceded him in death on February 16, 2003. Mr. Pierson was a farmer and raised Hereford cattle and horses. He was a member of Pleasant Dale Southern Baptist Church in rural Girard. Oren wintered in Florida for over 44 years. He was an avid fisherman and was a past member of the Trail Blazers Trailer Club. Oren is survived by a son, Harold Pierson (Fiancée Kathy DuBois) of Girard; 3 daughters, Velma Pence (Bill) of Palmyra, Wanda Denney (Don) of Palmyra, Norma Smith (Jim, deceased) of St. Jacob, IL; 12 grandchildren(1 deceased); 37 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Darlene Farris of Palmyra. Our dad was a very kind and gentle man and was loved by everyone of all generations. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Terry officiating. Burial will take place at Union Chapel Cemetery.
