Obituary of Beulah O. Eldred

Beulah O. Eldred, 106, of Carlinville, formerly of Chesterfield, IL, passed away Wednesday morning, June 14, 2017 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL.

 

Beulah was born on May 9, 1911 to James and Sadina (Wilton) Brown in Chesterfield, IL. She was a graduate of Chesterfield High School. Beulah married Myron "Tug" Eldred on January 25, 1934 in Jacksonville, IL and he preceded her in death in 1992.

 

Beulah worked as a phone operator in Chesterfield, IL when they first opened, until closing in 1973. At that time, party lines were eliminated and technology forced it's closure. She was a member of Chesterfield United Church where she taught Sunday School, played piano and sang in the choir. Beulah was very active in the Eastern Star. She would mow the neighbors grass and would take anyone from the community to the grocery store if they needed a ride.

 

Beulah is survived by two nieces, Polly Eldred of Carlinville, IL, and Joy (George) Micheletti of Springfield, IL; nephew, Jon Eldred of Carlinville, IL, as well as several great nieces and nephews.

 

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Chesterfield Cemetery, Chesterfield, IL with Rev. Robert Sabo officiating.

 

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.
