Obituary of Richard F. Bivin

Richard F. Bivin, 70, of Nilwood, IL passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2017 at his residence in Nilwood, Il. Rich was born on April 26, 1946 to Stephen "Frank" and Josephine H. (LeVora) Bivin in Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1965 and served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969. Rich married Judith A. Bramley on August 12, 1967 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Chesterfield, IL and she survives. Rich retired from Prairie Farms Dairy in Carlinville after 31 years in the maintenance department. He was a member of Blooming Grove Christian Church in rural Palmyra and volunteered on the Girard Fire and Rescue Squad for 28 years. Rich was the current mayor of Nilwood, having served 8 years, as well as serving on the Macoupin County 911 Board for 3 years. He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, woodworking and walking the dogs. Rich is survived by his wife, Judi Bivin of Nilwood; two sons, Stephen Matthew (Amy) Bivin of Morton, IL and James Alexander (Sasha) Bivin of Carlsbad, CA; 9 grandchildren; three sisters, Myrtle Kessinger of Carlinville, IL, Allie Jo (Mike) Meikamp of Edwardsville, IL and Marjorie Hickerson of South Pekin, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Rich was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Gabriella Josephine Bivin. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard with funeral services following at 7:00 at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Baylis officiating. Entombment will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Blooming Grove Christian Church, Girard Fire and Rescue Squad Association or Camp Hope in Missouri.
