Everette Bristow “Bris” Evans, 90, of Carlinville passed away at 7:08 pm on Monday, October 24, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 16, 1925 in Palmyra to Frank and Lola (Bristow) Evans. On June 2, 1951, Bris married Norma Jean Ward in Carlinville by Rev. Frank Crouch. Bris and Jean recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Bris was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II where he served on the U.S.S. Schenectady from 1941-1944. He started his truck driving career at a young age when he began driving for Hulcher Brothers in Virden. He went on to drive for Allis Chalmers and later worked for Buske in Litchfield, where he retired from truck driving. Bris later started driving a school bus for the Carlinville School District for 10 years, where he then retired in 1997. Bris used his joy and talent of building, as an opportunity to do more work. He owned and operated Evans Trailer Repair that was located outside of Carlinville on Route 4. He also enjoyed trail riding, hunting and traveling all over the country on his motorcycle with his wife, Jean. They traveled to 48 states during their travels together. In addition to his wife, Jean surviving are three daughters, 7 grandchildren , and 5 great-grandchildren. Oldest daughter, April Elaine McMillen and husband, John, and their two children; a daughter Lori Raab and her husband Craig and their daughter, Emily Rose. A son Matthew McMillen, all of Carlinville. Middle daughter, Dorothy Faye Selinger and husband, Dennis, of Palmyra and their two children, Carlotta Baker and husband, Brad, and their two children Kaitlyn and Cole Baker, from Waverly. A daughter, Cindy Selinger of Palmyra. Youngest daughter, Karen Anne Mitchell and husband, David, of Conway Arkansas and their three children: a daughter Heather Patton and husband Juan from Little Rock, AR. A son Clayton Mitchell and wife, Jessica, and their two children Laura and Chloe Mitchell of Bloomington, IN. and a son, Dylan Mitchell and wife Natalie, from Singapore. Bris is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bris was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: James Evans, Orville Evans, William Evans and Harold Evans, two sisters: Dorothy Miller and Emma Hardwick; great-granddaughter, Meadow Faith Earp. Funeral Services will be held Monday October 31, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Pastor Cliff Woodman will officiate. Visitation will be held Monday, from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Burial will be in the Mayfield Cemetery in Carlinville.
