Obituary of Robert E. Tucker

Robert E. Tucker, age 89 of Girard, passed away Monday evening , August 15, 2016, at the Sunrise Manor in Virden, IL. Bob was born July 29, 1927, in Harvel, IL, the fifth child born to William J. and Lucy Meyer Tucker. Bob graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1945. Five years after graduation he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob later married Viola Boehm on July 24, 1954, in Carlinville, IL at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Bob was a grain, livestock and dairy farmer his lifetime in the Girard area. He retired in 2005. Bob was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Girard as well as the Virden Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post. Bob held a Real Estate Brokers License and worked for some of the area agencies. He was a true New York Yankee baseball fan, loved to golf and was an avid hunter, but his true passion was dancing with his bride "Vi" anywhere there was a dance. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Rita Ellis and wife who passed away December 10, 1994. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm a the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. A prayer service will be recited at 3:45 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Girard. Burial will take place in Girard Cemetery at a later date. Robert is survived by his son, Robert E. (Vicky) Tucker, II of Plainfield, IL, grandchildren; Rachel Viola Tucker and Robert E Tucker III, sister, Imelda Oglesby of Mt. Vernon, IL, sister, Mary Lou Butler of Springfield, IL, sister, JoAnn Rettberg of Macedonia, OH, brother, William Tucker of Butler, IL, brother, Paul Tucker of Houston, TX, brother, Donald (Gwen) Tucker of Girard, IL, brother, Gerald (Shirley) Tucker of Girard, IL, brother, James (Mary) Tucker of Houston, TX, brother, David Tucker of Rocky River, OH, several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Girard Fire & Rescue Squad or St. Patrick's Catholic Church Altar & Rosary Society.
