Obituary of Gladys Hays

Gladys M. Hays, 92, of Girard, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 13, 2016 at her residence in Girard, IL, surrounded by her family. Gladys was born on February 4, 1924 to William and Emma (Gentry) Grossner in Iowa. Gladys worked as an assembler for Dickey-John Corporation in Auburn, Illinois. On July 26, 1946 she married Dale D. Hays in Carlinville, Illinois. Gladys loved working in her flower garden and her yard and enjoyed going to yard sales. Gladys loved visiting with her family and her friends at Doc's Soda Fountain. Gladys is survived by three daughters, Linda (Dale) Bruce of Virden, IL, Beth (Dan) Smith of Wyoming, MN, and Tami (Don) Hubbell of Chatham, IL; step-son, Larry (Ethel) Hays of Girard, IL; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Dale D. Hays and son, Orval E. "Sonny" Brookman in 2000; parents; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2016, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at 10:30 am at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, with Pastor Terry Turner officiating.
